February 28, 2008 - Matthew Paul Clement was born on August 12, 1974 in McCandless Township, Pennsylvania. He is best known for being the starting pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, an Pro Baseball team. Prior to pitching for the Cardinals, Clement was on the San Diego Padres, Florida Marlins, Chicago Cubs and the Boston Red Sox.
In seven years of pitching, from 1998 through 2005, Clement boasted an 82-81 record complete with 117 strikeouts and a 4.37 ERA in more than 1300 innings.
In June of 2004, Clement went on to be one of the top candidates for the All-Star Game. Clement also had a 7-7 record against American League teams during interleague play with a record of 3.60 ERA in 19 starts. Unfortunately, a shoulder injury in 2006 forced him to undergo surgery and was benched in order to heal. As of today, his injury was not career-threatening and his progress has improved.
More recently, Matt Clement was signed on January 3, 2008 to play with the St. Louis Cardinals. A day later, doctors announced Clement's in good health and should be ready to play this upcoming season!
