The 2006 World Series Recap
In October 2006, the St. Louis Cardinals went up against the American League Champions, the Detroit Tigers. In an unmatched battle, the Cardinals went to win Games 1, 3, 4 and 5 to win the World Series title.
Game 1: After a first inning score by the Detroit Tigers, the St. Louis Cardinals came back with a vengeance, outscoring the Tigers with seven runs. The Tigers attempted to come back in the 9th inning with one run, but the Cardinals won the game 7 to 2.
Game 2: Looking to tie up the series, the Detroit Tigers entered Game 2 looking for a win. Again, the Tigers scored in the first inning and held the Cardinals to one run in the 9th inning. Unfortunately, it was not enough for the Cardinals to win the game, losing to the Tigers 3 to 1.
Game 3: After being shut out for eight innings in Game 2, the Cardinals retaliated. St. Louis starter Chris Carpenter answered back with eight shutout innings of his own. His efforts led to a Cardinals 5 to 0 shutout.
Game 4: The second game in St. Louis, Missouri, the Cardinals looked to pull ahead even more. After the Tigers took a 3-0 lead in the top, the Cardinals came back in the seventh and eighth innings. After Aaron Miles scored a double on David Eckstein, the Cardinals eventually kept the lead and won Game 4. The Cardinals were now one win away from a World Series title.
Game 5: The St. Louis Cardinals came into Game 5 looking to end the Pro Baseball Playoffs and take the Championship title. During the second inning, the Cardinals took the lead with one run. The Tigers answered back in the fourth, as well as the Cardinals, both with two runs. From here on out, the Cardinals would continue their scoring and shutout the Tigers. When the game came to an end, the St. Louis Cardinals had won 4 to 2 and were now the Pro Baseball's World Series Champions.
